“Giftedness is not what you do or how hard you work. It is who you are. You think differently. You experience life intensely. You care about injustice. You seek meaning. You appreciate and strive for the exquisite. You are painfully sensitive. You are extremely complex. You cherish integrity. Your truth-telling has gotten you in trouble. Should 98% of the population find you odd, seek the company of those who love you just the way you are. You are not broken. You do not need to be fixed. You are utterly fascinating. Trust yourself!”

A Tale of Student Teaching Linky Party

I just LOVE the blog "The Polished Teacher" and I find it hard to believe that Ash is not already a full fledged, full time teacher.  I have to admit, I was surprised when I saw that she is starting student teaching in less than 30 days!  She is going to knock their socks off!

Well, this hard working young lady is also hosting a linky party for sharing stories and advice about student teaching.  I linked up today because even though my student teaching days are LONG over, I remember them vividly.  Here are my memories and my advice.

  2. I hear you about naive...at least I am not permanently damaged in my head! I cannot imagine what would have happened if that kid had whacked me with the hammer! Don't even ask why there was a full sized 14 oz hammer in the classroom...NOT MY FAULT! LOL!
Have a great rest of the week, and thanks for commenting!

  3. Sidney you are just the sweetest! Thank you so much for the compliments! I know that blogging will definitely make me a better teacher! I am fortunate to be starting out with this amazing community at my fingertips!

The story about the hammer is priceless! Thank goodness for your cooperating teacher! Your advice is wonderful! I definitely am going to test out a bunch of new ideas that I have been wanting to try. Fortunately my cooperating teacher is more than willing to let me suggest new ideas! I am looking forward to having a veteran teacher provide me with some constructive criticism. It will only make me a better teacher in the long run!

Thanks so much for linking up! I truly appreciate it! It's always nerve wracking hosting a linky and worrying that no one will link up. I woke up to a wonderful surprise this morning when you had already linked up! Let me know if you would like my font or border pack and I will send it along your way!

    1. Ash,
No reason to worry about hosting a linky...you have great posts and you know people will want to share! I truly hope you have the best time with your student teaching...I remember it so vividly even 23 years later! If there is ANYTHING at all I can do to assist you, just drop me a line!

  4. I would love to link into this but I am just off to work now...will come back! Also, I had to laugh Sidney as I was reading your post on my iPad and struggling with font size which went blurry when I enlarged it. I struggled through to the end because I love reading from you...then I read 'click on the image above to enlarge'!!! LOL at myself.
    Great advice.

  5. Julie,
I am sooo sorry you had to do that. I tried to make the PNG larger on the blog but it was being cut off by the sidebar. I realized that if you clicked on the image you could read it. If you know of any other way to make a PNG like that bigger let me know! I can't read a dratted thing on that little image...good for you for persevering..I would have said to heck with it! Thanks! Hope you had a great day!

  6. I thought I had it all down during student teaching. Well, compared to the other person who failed that portion I was a Whiz!
