I'm following you on bloglovin', but unfortunately when you reply to a post it doesn't send me an email. I'm wondering now if mine does the same thing. I know when I reply to my own blog it sends me an email...hmm. Maybe it only works if you reply directly by email to me. This is something I'm going to go search. The little wheels in my brain are turning. It is not without its challenges, but honestly, I love the challenge of teaching gifted students. My next upcoming posts will be about how to differentiate for process and that will be of interest to you for sure. The whole social/emotional part of teaching gifted is often overlooked, but it can be the lynchpin to having a successful year. I will also address parent communication, because you want to have the parents on board from the beginning. Best of luck and if you have any specific questions I can assist you with, please email me directly at teachingisagift@outlook.com.
Enjoy your summer! When do you go start? I don't go back until after labour day.
SidneyMs.M from Teachingisagifthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10482334866440146334noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7692820425397337922.post-30446361998925255412013-07-20T23:46:58.198-04:002013-07-20T23:46:58.198-04:00Sidney,

I often work with the kindergarten teacher at our school because although we are at different ends of the spectrum student age wise, we as teachers, are very close pedagogically.
Parent education has become something I also very passionate about. I maintain a classroom website each year, and I have tried writing blog posts on it for parents with articles about gifted students. It continues to be a "tension" for me...keeps pulling me in different directions.
Have a wonderful weekend, I hope there are blue skies where you are!
SidneyMs.M from Teachingisagifthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10482334866440146334noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7692820425397337922.post-86401667947521141342013-07-20T07:31:11.703-04:002013-07-20T07:31:11.703-04:00Why thank you for taking the time to read the post...Why thank you for taking the time to read the post and then come back here and comment. That really means a lot to me. The whole "more than academics" is really WHAT gifted programming is all about. In upcoming posts I am going to address how I engage the students in other realms of learning including the social and emotional. I hope you will come back and I hope you will comment again! Have a fantastic weekend!
SidneyMs.M from Teachingisagifthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10482334866440146334noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7692820425397337922.post-46052811238324510492013-07-20T05:45:21.120-04:002013-07-20T05:45:21.120-04:00I am encouraged by your passion and thoroughly enj...I am encouraged by your passion and thoroughly enjoyed reading this post. I have used a simple version of the tic, tax, toe board with my gifted Kindergarten Learners and found it really successful. parent eduction was a key to success also. Fortunately we are allowed to go anywhere in our curriculum to meet our students needs as long as we program IEP's for students.

With thanks
Julie :-)
Mrs Stowe's Kinder CottageAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18052975877555246323noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7692820425397337922.post-89354914718126034892013-07-20T03:50:43.120-04:002013-07-20T03:50:43.120-04:00I was very excited to read this! I love critical thinking, creative thinking, research and technology, demonstration and application. I wish more teachers understood that gifted is not about academics.
