“Giftedness is not what you do or how hard you work. It is who you are. You think differently. You experience life intensely. You care about injustice. You seek meaning. You appreciate and strive for the exquisite. You are painfully sensitive. You are extremely complex. You cherish integrity. Your truth-telling has gotten you in trouble. Should 98% of the population find you odd, seek the company of those who love you just the way you are. You are not broken. You do not need to be fixed. You are utterly fascinating. Trust yourself!”

Please Google Friend Connect Users...Make the switch to BLOGLOVIN!

Update:  Laura Candler is sponsoring a great BLOG HUNT Linky.  Please click on the image above to go to Laura's page.  There you will find lots of awesome blogs to follow and you can link up your blog too!

By now we all know that Google Reader shut down on July 1.  I have read that with Google Reader going, there won’t be any reason to still have Google Friend Connect.  GFC adds the newly subscribed blog to the Blogger Dashboard & Google Reader. When you click on ‘Join This Site’ on GFC, the blog’s address is automatically added to Google Reader in the folder “Blogs I’m Following”. This folder is synced to and from Blogger Dashboard to display the blog you have chosen to follow.

There has been speculation in blog land that when Google Reader disappears there will be no blogs listed in the Blogger Dashboard as it is only set to sync blogs from Google Reader.  This will potentially make GFC useless, because while you could still click on ‘Join This Site’ you would no longer receive updates through Google Reader / Blogger Dashboard.

So now what?  I am asking all my faithful readers to consider switching to BLOGLOVIN.  On my blog you can just click on the BLOGLOVIN button and you will be following me there instead of GFC.

How do I import the blogs I follow on GFC to Bloglovin?
After you have signed up to BLOGLOVIN using your email address you need to do the following:
  1. CLICK ON THIS LINK
  2. Click on ‘Google Reader’, then ‘Import from Google Reader’
  3. Allow Bloglovin access and it will do the rest for you!

    1. Crystal,
That's awesome! I really like Bloglovin do you? I like the little tool that tells me how many new posts there are for me to read. I finally migrated all 300+ blogs I follow to Bloglovin. I am really happy! Thanks for following!

  2. Sidney,
I heard this to, but then I actually just read a post where someone said that the dashboard feature on our blogs would actaully continue to stay the same (blogger dashboard) so we could see all the update like we normally do.

But I've also done bloglovin just in case.
    fingers crossed

    1. Matt,
I hear you my bloggy buddy but I would rather be safe than sorry. I don't trust anything these days. I would hate for my followers to become non-followers because of a Google issue. I guess I will just have to wait and see. Honestly though I am kinda enamoured of Bloglovin anyhow, and would like to spread the word. Thanks for stopping by and commenting and for following in Bloglovin.
PS> I wonder if I like the name so much because it makes me think of "McLovin". Did you see that movie?

  3. Hi Sidney!
Thanks for the reminder that I needed to do this. It was quick, and I really like the way that Bloglovin' is set up. Do you mind if I use your "keep calm" photo for my blog? I want to include it in a future post.
    Thanks!

    1. HI Alisha,
Sure you can use my keep calm JPG. I made it because I couldn't find an image I thought was appropriate from Bloglovin. Help yourself! I hope you find the switch over as easy as I did!

  4. I've been wondering about Bloglovin'. You explained why it would wise to join. I just tried, but I'm not receiving an email with the link. Hmm. Hopefully I can figure out how to join. Thanks for sharing.

    1. Not sure why you aren't receiving anything. You can sign up using FACEBOOK or via email http://www.bloglovin.com/signup. Once you do that you can add bloglovin to your own blog by using one of the widgets, and you can follow other blogs too! You can also import all of your Google reader blogs! Hope this helps!

  5. How do you feel about Feedly? I have been trying out so many different things that I can't figure out which I like best...

  6. I like how Bloglovin updates better than Feedly. I like that you can choose large or small pictures. It just appeals to my visual side more!
Thanks for asking and for commenting!
